The arrested men were identified as Assan Ullah aka Abu Bilal of Gujranwala, Mohammad Bashir aka Abu Maria and Rashid aka Abu Kasha, both of Karachi.
Sharma did not say when the arrests were made, only revealing that the three were arrested a few days back in Poonch district near the state''s border with Pakistan. A fourth man, who was acting as a guide for the potential attackers, escaped, Sharma said.
The local guide "was entrusted with the task of facilitating the movement of anti-national elements to Delhi and doing a recce of the area," DGP Sharma said.
Three AK-56 rifles, 12 hand grenades, 12 magazines and 480 rounds were recovered from them. Sharma did not say whether any communication equipment had been found with them.
